Katie Coleman is a 19-year-old journalism student at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.

Originally from San Antonio, Katie came to Texas State in the fall of 2013 as an exploratory major, choosing Texas State because she is the fourth generation to attend, the first being her namesake and great-grandmother Corinne Coleman, and the distance allows independence while still offering proximity to her family and friends.

Though she initially applied as an exploratory major, after months of online quizzes and self-discovery she enrolled as a pre-journalism major in May of 2014. Now officially enrolled Katie is completing full major courses and enjoys her classes.

Actively involved on campus, Katie joined the Epsilon chapter of Sigma Phi Lambda, a Christian sorority, in the fall of her freshman year. With the purpose to spread Christ's love on campus through sisterhood, Katie serves as the New Member Educator for new and incoming recruits. She loves to participate in service events in which she and her fellow sisters help out the community in and around San Marcos.

When discussing her future, Katie is unsure of where she sees herself after graduation; however, she originally enrolled with the idea to work for a magazine or online publisher one day. Though she is unsure of her plans, she believes everything happens for a reason and that each step in her education is towards His bigger better plan.

Aside from her studies, Katie loves traveling, watching HGTV and writing for her blog where she reviews independent and alternative films.
