You could almost call it destiny that Jason Harris was to end up at Texas State University. Raised in Lockhart, a small town just 20 minutes away from San Marcos, he grew up a Bobcat. His father, Dan Harris, worked for the university for over 35 years after graduating from Texas State with two degrees of his own. When it was time for Jason to choose which college he would be attending, the choice was easy.

Los Angeles would be filled with peaks and valleys for Harris as work was never quite steady enough to sustain an acceptable living situation. While able to find work as a production assistant or art department assistant on various films and music videos, the jobs were just too few and far between. A year later he would return to Austin and immediately find work in a local pet shop.
Within a year, he would be promoted to manager of the shop and he spent the next year and a half helping to bring proper nutrition and american made toys and treats to the dogs of Austin. A tough decision would be headed his way though as the company he worked for would ask him to relocate his talents to another market area. Harris would politely decline the move, choosing to stay in his current home. The job hunt would begin again.
The job market would come calling quickly though. A small doggy daycare and boarding facility just a block over from his former place of employment would immediately contact him to offer a job. Harris quickly accepted. He found more joy and passion working, washing and playing with the dogs than he did selling food, toys and treats to their owners. But once again, change would be coming.
In 2012, Harris decided to return to Texas State to pursue a second degree. Journalism would be his choice this time. He would find employment with Texas State's own radio station, KTSW, and within a year would be promoted to assistant sports director. During his continued employment at KTSW, Harris has been able to interview the likes of head football coach Dennis Franchione and Texas sports legend Cat Osterman along with many others. He can also be heard on Bobcat Radio every Friday from 11am to 12pm as host of the radio's weekly sports show.
In his spare time, Harris likes to spend time with his dog, Hank, at the river or local dog park. He also enjoys the occasional video game and is a major fan, and part owner, of the World Wrestling Federation. OK, so maybe he just owns one share of the company but it's framed and on his wall. He says it counts!
Due to graduate in 2016, Harris is unsure of what the future will bring. "You never really know what's coming. My life as been a series of fortunate events," Harris said. "Things just keep coming. Just have to roll with the changes."
But with whatever comes, you can better Harris is going to be just fine.
