Andrew Potter, not your average bobcat

By: Andrew Potter

Andrew Potter, or "Potter" for short, was born April 4th, 1990 in San Antonio, Texas. He is the oldest of three children and the first to attend college and is completely happy with his choice on where he went pursue his college career. He is a communications major and a minor in geography, with plans to be in the media fields upon his graduation in May, 2015.

Throughout his career at Texas State, Potter was been very involved in various student organization. While being a full-time student he was involved in the Student Government, Inter-fraternal council,
Cat Camp, Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity and his hall council when he was a freshmen. He feels that this university gave him so much, he just wants to find ways to give back. While involved in these organizations Potter learned a great deal about leadership, teamwork and Public/community relations. These skills prompted him to change his major to communications with a focus on P.R. which is his desired field of employment.

He has professional experience through his work with the Texas State Office of Community Relations. There he learned how to plan, organize and execute large events as well as promoting a brand, which was Texas State. He also worked with the United Way or Hays County as a P.R. intern and helped set up the Wassel Wine Walk.

He has had an abundance of jobs throughout his career, ranging from food service, retail to a car wash. He likes that fact, because this gave him the opportunity to meet different people and work on his customer/client skills.

In his free time Potter enjoys spending time with his brothers working out, playing sports or just playing Call of Duty on his Xbox, which he goes on to say he is really good.

Potter hopes his post grade life will include a career doing community or public relations for independent companies or firms in the Austin area. This is just a desired location for him, but he is ready to go wherever the job and money take him.

He loves his university and the connections, memories and friendships he has made and looks forward to his future, feel from to follow him on his http://about.me/ap1418 to keep tabs on him.
